Adventist Baobab is a common platform for African voices: an Africa-centred Adventist space for thought, scholarship and conversation, led and edited by Africans.
Why a baobab
Across Africa the baobab is a gathering place: people meet in its shade to talk, settle questions and pass on what they know. This forum aims to be that kind of place for Adventists on the continent and in the diaspora.
Vision
A connected and confident community of African and diaspora Adventists, recognised as a respected centre of thought, scholarship, dialogue, cultural expression and mission innovation within the global church.
What we set out to do
Cultivate thought leadership. Develop and showcase African Adventist thinkers, writers, scholars, pastors, students and creatives.
Amplify the African voice. Bring African experience and priorities into worldwide Adventist conversations.
Build solidarity. Connect Adventists across the continent’s three divisions and the diaspora.
Raise the next generation and keep the story. Mentor emerging writers, support student publishing and record African Adventist history.
Principles
- Africa-led, globally engaged
- Faithful and thoughtful
- Pan-African and inclusive
- Constructive and solution-oriented
- Independent, collaborative and sustainable
Independent
Adventist Baobab is an independent forum. It is not an official publication of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and it is not a branch of any other magazine. Editorial decisions are made on the continent.
